Nahr al-Kalb Bridge, Mazraat El Ras, Aintoura, Lebanon

The Nahr al-Kalb River was anciently called the Lycus River and later the Dog River. It is claimed that a stone bridge was built over the river by Sultan Selim in the seventeenth century, but the present structure is believed to date from 1892. It has two differently-sized large arches and one smaller one. A stamp showing the bridge was issued in 1950.

Nakabuta Bridge, Sigatoka, Nadroga-Navosa, Fiji

The Fijian government commissioned the Mabey Bridge company to replace an earlier bridge here with this 29m-long proprietary Compact 200 structure, developed from the original Bailey Bridge of the Second World War. It was opened in 2017.

Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

The double-decked steel trussed structure over the Yangtze River in Nanjing was built between 1960 and 1968 and is the world’s longest road:rail bridge. The 20m-wide upper road deck, which carries National Highway 104, is flanked by 2m-wide footways and the 14m-wide lower deck carries the Beijing-Shanghai Railway. The overall length of the bridge is 1,576m and it has ten main spans, the longest being 160m, at the ends of which are four 70m-high decorative masonry corner towers topped by statuary. The whole structure was closed between 2016 and 2018 for renovation.
